How To Find The Right Replacement Hand Control
Buttons, connectors and model numbers: what to check so your new remote fits the first time.
Hand controls can look alike and still not work with your chair. A few minutes of checking before you order can save you a return.
1. Find the model number
Look on the back of the switch for a label. If you can read a model or part number, search for it first. An exact number match is the most reliable way to find the right control.
2. Count the buttons
Note how many buttons your control has and what each one does. Also check for extras such as a USB port, since these differ between models.
3. Check the connector
The plug matters as much as the buttons. Common types include 5-pin, 8-pin, RJ11 and RJ12. Unplug the chair, then compare the plug on your control with the photos in our hand control range.
4. Follow the cable
If your control uses a 10-pin cable, trace it to the control box first. The fault may be in the box or the cable rather than the switch.
Still not sure?
If the label is missing or worn, take a clear photo of the control and its plug and send it to a parts specialist through the Part Finder.
