Recliner Won't Move At All? Start With These Checks
When nothing happens at the button, the problem is often power. Here is how to narrow it down.
A recliner that does nothing when you press the button can feel like a big problem, but the cause is often simple. Work from the wall to the chair. Keep the chair unplugged when you handle its cables.
1. Test the outlet
Plug in a lamp or phone charger. If it does not work, check the breaker or use another outlet.
2. Check the power supply
Many transformers have a small light. If it stays off with a working outlet, the power supply is a likely suspect.
3. Check each plug
Follow the cable from the power supply to the motor and hand control. Reseat every plug firmly. Also inspect cables for pinches or damage from the mechanism.
4. Try the hand control
If the power supply light is on and every plug is secure, the hand control is next on the list.
5. Consider the motor last
Motors usually fail after the simpler items have been ruled out. If you hear no sound at all and everything else checks out, look at the actuator.
