One Seat On Your Reclining Sofa Stopped Working? Try This

How to find the fault when a single seat stops on a power sofa or sectional.

When one seat on a power sofa stops and the others still work, that is good news. It means the fault is probably with that seat, rather than the whole sofa.

Check that seat's connections

Unplug the sofa. Look under the problem seat and follow its cables. Sections of a sectional often link together, and those connecting cables can be pulled loose when the sofa moves.

Swap test

If two seats use the same parts, you can compare them. Swapping a hand control or a power supply between seats may show which part has failed. Only swap parts that have the same plug and rating.

What the results mean

Find the part

Each seat can use its own model of part, so read the label on the one that failed. Our guide to finding the model number can help.
